Family photos are so special to document as a photographer. I think everyone can relate to looking back at family photos and instantly being transported in time. Even though we as people change, and our kids and the people in our lives eventually grow older, pictures allow time to stand still. There is something so precious about being a photographer that captures raw and beautiful moments in peoples lives. No need for posing and directing a shoot from beginning to end but instead just hanging out and letting the natural moments flow. This is lifestyle photography, and part of what drives me as a photographer.

Megan had expressed interested in photos that told a story. Not just photos where everyone is posed perfectly and smiling at the camera. We decided the beach was the perfect location for them. Her family practically lives on the water. Taylor & Megan spend a lot of time on their boat and at the beach. As a result little Elijah has come to love the water more than any toddler I have ever seen. He had no problem running into the water right at the beginning of their shoot and completely accidentally submerging himself, getting his clothes completely soaked. Instead of getting upset because I got probably one photo with his clothes intact, I let him have fun and let their family enjoy time together as if I wasn’t there. They had so much fun playing tag and swinging him into the air.

These pictures remind me of my favorite childhood photos, ones filled with life and personality. I value documenting these types of photos the most because life is so short, and it truly passes by in the blink of an eye. Photos like this allow you to freeze the most beautiful of moments to look back on for a lifetime. Take a look below ♡
